Download is only just over a week away now so we hope you’re all excited. Palm Reader are set to play the Pepsi Max Stage on Friday at 1.45pm and they’re ready to bring- as they describe it- their ‘lairy’ brand of music. The band are on the final few days of their tour with Demoraliser before preparing for Download.
HTF were lucky enough to catch up with guitarist Sam ahead of their performance next weekend. Check out what happened right here.

HTF: Are you Download regulars or virgins?
Sam: We are Download virgins, ready to be de-flowered.
HTF: What bands are you looking forward to seeing?
S: Unfortunately we can’t stick around long because we’re playing in Switzerland the next day but there are so many bands we wanted to see. Converge, Empress, QOTSA, Motorhead, Slipknot, Turbonegro, Kvelertak. The list goes on.
HTF: What does it feel like to be playing the Pepsi Max stage?
S: To us it’s ridiculous that we’re even playing Download festival, but to be sharing a stage with the likes of Converge, Hang the Bastard and The Sword is pretty fucking cool.
HTF: Why should people come and see you, can we expect an epic set?
I’m not sure ‘epic’ necessarily describes what we do, but it’s going to be fucking mental we can promise you that.
HTF: What are you going to name your camp?
S: Camp-Anology. That’s bell ringing.
HTF: Any camping tips?
S: Make sure you bring toilet roll, baby wipes and an inflatable mattress. Be ready to wake up and drink early because if it’s hot, there’s no way you’re going to be able to stay inside your tent past 9am.
HTF: What was your first festival experience?
S: Download in 2004.
HTF: Best band you’ve seen at a festival?
S: It’s probably a tie between Dillinger Escape Plan and The Bronx at Hevy Fest. They were both unreal.
HTF: If you could only bring three things to a festival what would they be?
S: A dog, a funnel and a good sense of humour.
HTF: Weirdest thing you’ve done or witnessed at a festival?
S: I pooed myself at Hevy fest, then went to look at the tigers in the animal park to cheer myself up.
