The sci-fi loving concept band Coheed and Cambria’s sixth studio album has been revealed to be a double concept album entitled, ‘The Afterman,’ and will be released in two separate full-length volumes.
The first volume, ‘The Afterman: Ascension,’ is set to be available on both physical and digital platformson October 9th, 2012. The second volume, ‘The Afterman: Descension’ has been announced for release in Febrary 2013. The band has also confirmed a handful of intimate Northeast U.S. club shows leading up to the release of ‘The Afterman.’ The tour starts September 13 in Kingston, NY.
The band has explained the concept that surrounds the two albums: “Sirius Amory, the most celebrated astronomer/scientist in the alternate universe of Heaven’s Fence is ‘‘The Afterman.’ Sirius (pronounced “Sy-ruhss”) is credited with the discovery of the energy force (known as The Keywork) that binds the 78 planets of these worlds together. He embarks on the greatest discovery of his existence, and possibly mankind’s. By doing so, what is truly most important to him begins to slip right through his fingers.”
