When it comes to festival season, Takedown sure know how to kick things off with a bang. From the likes of Funeral For A Friend to Kids In Glass Houses, this year the event infuses together some of the country’s most popular rock bands with a hearty burst of up and coming British talent. Already gearing up for the day’s antics, Hit The Floor HQ have put together a list of the bands we’re most looking forward to see. Here’s who made the cut.

Heaven’s Basement – Total Rock Stage – 10:00pm

Following the release of their first single ‘Fire, Fire’ in 2012, Heaven’s Basement have enticed both boys and girls in equal measures with their fresh take on brash melodies and resilient vocals. Known for their fiercely energetic sets, that mix together classics like ‘I Am Electric’ and ‘Nothing Left To Lose’, the four-piece are sure to ignite the Total Rock stage.

Blitz Kids – Jaegermeister Stage – 4:10pm

It’s safe to say that Cheshire-based Blitz Kids are have caused up quite a stir in recent months with the release of their debut album, The Good Youth. Lashed with a robust backbone and old school charm for elated rock and roll, Takedown marks the first of many festival slots for the band – who are also confirmed to play sets at Sonisphere, Camden Rocks, and the newly announced 2000Trees. Whether you love them or hate them, one thing’s for sure, Blitz Kids have no plans on going anywhere anytime soon.

LostAlone – Big Deal Stage – 9:30pm

Hailing from the hustle and bustle of Derby, LostAlone are one band that’s always on the Hit The Floor Radar. Whether they’re supporting the likes of Paramore and 30 Seconds To Mars, or putting on their own headline show, the three-piece always know how get a night pumped, with over a third of their songs merging together My Chemical Romance-type sing along with the elated rush of Muse. Headlining the Big Deal Clothing stage, this is one set you don’t want to miss.

Canterbury – Jaegermeister Stage – 6:10pm

January was a strong month for music. Not only did the yearly kickstart, see the announcement of stacks of headline tours, but also the release of a lashings of rock albums. Amongst the madness was punchy four-piece Canterbury – who’s third studio offering, Dark Days, peaked to number 1 on the UK Official Chart of Rock Albums. No doubt eager to bring the lively aesthetic and hype of the record straight to Takedown, the team are more than looking forward to seeing the Surrey-based quintet’s highly polished dose of rock and roll.

I Divide – Big Deal Stage – 6:50pm

The real question is why wouldn’t you want to see Exeter natives I Divide? Making a triumphant return to the festival, the five-piece have earned themself the title of being a firm fan-favourite with riddles of choppy tracks that mix together off-kilter beats with sublime guitar motifs. Back performing an evening slot on the Big Deal stage, we can’t help but think bigger and better things are on the horizon for these highly anticipated upstarts.

Takedown Festival is on March 15 at Southampton University. For further information, regarding tickets, travel and stage times, click here to visit their official website.
