It’s not a coincidence that Shakira’s latest video featured some more girl on girl attention, with Rhianna, instead of a male counterpart. It has recently been revealed in a press conference that her long standing boyfriend Gerard Pique, Barcelona and Spanish International football player, isn’t very supportive of videos linking her romantically to another man.
Shakira explains it a bit better:
“He’s very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women. It’s more than implied in our relationship that I can’t do videos like I used to. It’s out of the question — which I like, by the way. I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person that he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna.”
Her biggest hit came in 2006 with ‘Hips Don’t Lie‘, a collaboration with Wyclef Jean, which hit No. 1 on the hot 100 Billboard chart as well as having 3.6 million downloads to date. Although, it seems those days are behind her as she focuses on family life now, with her son Milan being a highlight of her life right now.
Shakira‘s self-titled tenth studio album is set for release on March 21st.
