One Direction have become the first act of 2014 to surpass the $200 million ticket sales barrier, it has been revealed today.
The millstone figure comes after selling out arenas and stadiums across Europe and North America on their Where We Are World Tour.
The tour kicked off back in April, where they began in South America, before touring Europe, the United Kingdom and the USA.
Zayn Malik recently said in an interview with Top of the Pops that he still cannot believe the success the band has experienced around the world: “We’re just as surprised about it as anyone else is, to be honest. We didn’t really expect any of it and it’s just crazy to see how it’s happened.”
Their label boss Simon Cowell recently revealed some information about the musical direction the group have taken for their upcoming studio album: “The album’s fantastic. There’s probably five or six tracks I’ve already heard that could be singles. There’s some very different kinds of songs than what we’ve done before, they’ve taken a few more risks. Most importantly, the boys love writing, they love recording.”
He added that he doesn’t think the group will split up, saying that they could last for potentially another 20 years.
