In the wake of Jessie J‘s new single being premiered yesterday, ‘Bang Bang’ featuring Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj, the singer has revealed a private moment which happened between her and the Trinidadian-born rapper Minaj.

Upon hearing Minaj rap verse, Jessie has opened about how she cried “tears of joy” when she listened to it for the first time.

Their collaboration came to fruition after previously attempting to work with Minaj on a different song, but it failed to happen.

In an interview with KISS FM radio, Jessie explained how she had tried to collaborate with the rapper some time ago, and what it meant to finally work with her:

“I tried to get Nicki on ‘Do It Like A Dude’ and that never happened. So four or five years later…just to be sent it – I didn’t even know she was going to really do it – they sent me a verse and I cried… Tears of joy – I was like ‘It’s so good’!”

‘Bang Bang’ will be released as the lead single from Jessie’s currently untitled upcoming third studio album, while it will be included as a deluxe edition bonus track on Grande’s upcoming second album, ‘My Everything’. We presume that it will be included on an edition of Minaj’s upcoming third studio album, too.

‘Bang Bang’ shot to the peak of the US iTunes chart immediately after it’s premiere yesterday, which meant that Grande had three songs in the top 15 of the chart at the same time: ‘Bang Bang’ at number one, ‘Problem’ featuring Iggy Azalea at number nine and ‘Break Free’ featuring Zedd at number 15. Grande took a screenshot of the accomplishment and posted it on her official Instagram profile.

Listen to ‘Bang Bang’ below! It will be released in the United Kingdom on 28 September 2014.
