As if one new song premiered by Mariah Carey from her upcoming album Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse wasn’t enough for fans this week, the singer debuted another live one this morning in New York City.
‘You Don’t Know What To Do’ featuring hip hop rapper Wale is the second song that Carey has revealed to her fans in full this week, following two versions of ‘Thirsty‘ a couple of days ago on 13 May.
Performing live as part of the Today Show Summer Concert Series, she took to the stage to perform the track with Wale, also accompanied by her dancers wearing tuxedos.
It starts with a relatively down-tempo, verging on a cappella introduction with her back up singers, which is followed by an up-tempo rap verse by Wale before Carey gets into full swing. Wale also performs another rap verse near the end of the song.
Fans both in New York City and around the world went into hysteria upon gaining knowledge that Carey had premiered another song from the album ahead of its international release next week, causing the hashtag #MariahTODAY to trend worldwide within minutes of her performance, with fans hailing it as the song of the summer.
Carey also performed two of her eighteen US Hot 100 number one singles ‘Always Be My Baby’ and ‘Touch My Body.’
Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse will be released in the United Kingdom on Monday 26 May 2014.
