Katy Perry has a new fragrance: Royal Revolution. The bottle’s shape, dagger like and cool blue in colour, follows her previous fragrance, Killer Queen. If it follows it’s sister fragrance, it’s going to go down like icy cool water trickling down a bare back. That is to say: it’s going to have impact and plenty of hype.
The fragrance will be available to buy in store from July and the aim is said to make fans feel empowered when they wear the scent. The fifth fragrance released by the pop star, Royal Revolution follows Killer Queen, Oh So Sheer, Meow! and Purr. It seems Katy isn’t going to stop until she has stamped her signature all over the beauty and fashion industry, with rumours of a nail line in the air too.
Coty Beauty Fragrances global marketing vice president Marsha Brooks told WWD, “This fragrance is about female empowerment and breaking the rules,”
The fragrance has been noted as “an irresistible floral,” with hints of pink freesia and pomegranate combining with a heart of sandalwood, orange flower and jasmine petals. There’s also a drydown of blackthorn, skin musk and vanilla orchid. The potion sounds like a mix to be sprayed in a mist and danced through, which happens to be Perry’s perfume-applying method:
“I like to apply a big spray at the beginning of the day and walk through it, I never really apply it on,” she told Handbag.com.
If the marketing campaign is as elaborate as the one for Killer Queen, July will give us plenty of Katy Perry extravagance, when a print advert, social media video and TV commercial are all set to launch. Keep your eyes peeled and your nose on alert to smell the sweet smell of Royal Revolution.
