One Direction‘s Harry Styles has reportedly taken up ballet dancing lessons in an attempt to emulate his hero Mick Jagger.
According to The Sun, Styles began talking to Torj Eike, The Rolling Stones’ long time trainer and physio about improving his moves:
“Harry wants a career spanning decades like Mick’s and to have that he recognises that fitness, health and developing his body is the key. He spoke to Torje about Jagger’s intense routine of kick-boxing, running, weights and, most importantly, ballet.”
Harry and the other members of One Direction aren’t best known for their dancing skills, as Zayn Malik famously threw a tantrum during the 2010 X Factor auditions when he was made to dance, with Simon Cowell having to persuade him onto the stage.
However the band’s personal trainer Mark Jarvis is currently working with the boys to improve their fitness. His boss Ramzy Khachik believes ballet could be the way forward for them:
“Nobody works harder than ballet dancers. It’s all about grace, stance and strength. Harry sees how supple Mick is, how he manages to stretch his body and do contortions. It’s a brilliant art form and will get more grace into his movements — if you’re graceful you can get away with minimalistic moves, which is what their choreography is about.”
Looks like we may have One Direction dance routines to look forward to in the future! What do you reckon?
