Simone Battle, singer in girlband GRL has died aged 25.
The news was confirmed by a joint statement from Reign Deer Entertainment, Robin Antin, Kemosabe Records, and RCA Records:
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. “Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”
Battle made it to the live shows of The X Factor US in 2011. The next year she was selected to be part of a new Pussycat Dolls lineup, who were then re-branded as GRL. The group’s first UK single ‘Ugly Heart’ was released last week.
Simone’s cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
