Ed Sheeran – I See Fire (Official Music Video)

English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has premiered the music video for ‘I See Fire’.

It will serve as the theme song to the closing credits for Peter Jackson‘s upcoming film ‘The Desolution of Smaug’, the second of The Hobbit trilogy. The film is a follow up to 2012’s ‘An Unexpected Journey’, which generated over one billion dollars worldwide.

The video shows Sheeran strumming his guitar and recording the song in a studio, while shots are intercut of other aspects of the writing process. Usually, theme song music videos feature sequences from the film itself, so perhaps another version is in the pipeline which combines Sheeran’s performance with parts of the films narrative.

Sheeran is currently in the process of recording his second studio album, which is due for release in early 2014. It will serve as the follow up to his multi-plaitnum selling debut, ‘+’. ‘I See Fire’ will not be included on the final track list.
