A recent report has shown that the majority of Justin Bieber‘s Twitter followers are fake accounts. He currently sits at the top of the ‘most followed’ list, with the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Barack Obama trailing closely behind, but around 45% of his followers have been classed fake, meaning Bieber‘s real following is around 17.8 million, rather than his displayed total of 37 million (making Lady Gaga the true most-followed person on Twitter). These ‘fake accounts’ are following less than 50 accounts, have less than one follower and have never tweeted themselves; “The data also considers fake accounts to incessantly tweet buzz phrases such as “diet”, “make money” and “work from home“, reports Socialbakers.
