The Joy Formidable have had a right fun time filming their latest video. Torrential rains, 4am starts and the destruction of a £200,000 camera damaged by the weather played a part in the making of ‘I Don’t Want To See You Like This’ which is being released as a single on October 11th.
The video was shot in the Gower Peninsula of Wales during the worst rains the area had seen in over a decade, “It’s rugged terrain to begin with and in normal conditions it would a difficult shoot,” says the band’s guitarist and singer Ritzy Bryan, “but add the torrential rain and electrical storms, let’s just say we were tested in every possible way. But I’m so happy we did it there, it’s where the song was written.” The band were at the Gower Peninsula to do some recording some months prior to making the video, “I had been there when I was a child with my parents,” Ritzy continues, “and returning there evoked a flood of memories and inspired me to write the song.”
As well as the single release the band head out on tour before returning to the US and Canada in November.
