Noel Gallagher has beaten Brother Liam in the solo career stakes by topping the UK Official Album Charts with ’Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’. Liam’s band Beady Eye only managed to reach number three with the release of ‘Different Gear, Still Speeding earlier this year’.
The self-titled album has gone straight into number one with sales of over 120,000 in the first week creating a double score by outselling rival Matt Cardel, last year’s X Factor winner, by some 40% and stopping him from getting to the top spot with his debut album Letters.
Roll on 2012 when Gallagher’s second album, a collaboration with Amorphous Androgynous, is due out and when Noel will be hitting the road for the second time with his biggest UK and Ireland tour to date.
