Kasabian celebrated the tenth anniversary of their debut self titled album last night , by playing the LP in its entirety at London’s Roundhouse; as part of the iTunes Festival.
The Leicester quartet appeared on stage at 8pm to little fanfare or chat and went straight into ‘Club Foot‘. They ran through their debut album in order, ending with the drawn out ‘U Boat‘. Some of the festival audience seemed to be surprised to see the headline act on so early and there was quite a few rumbles of confusion when the band existed the stage after just 45 minutes. Kasabian returned to play a greatest hits set half an hour later with a revamped stage to include a four piece orchestra and costume change. They then played a 75 minute set made up of their biggest singles from their last four albums including ‘Bumblebee’, Underdog‘ and ‘Days Are Forgotten‘ . Tom kept on stage dialogue to a minimum but commented on if we enjoyed the support act with a wink. The band were on good form, and were even more geared up with the audience chanting “easy,easy” at every opportunity.
After a short break, the band returned to a barn storming encore of ‘Empire‘ ‘Vlad The Impaler‘ and a ferocious ‘Fire‘ , where they managed to get the entire Roundhouse to sit down on the ground before the explosive chorus.
A great night for what is sure to be another month of amazing gigs at the iTunes Festival.
