Nottingham band Falling Off Maps have revealed the video for their new single The Redeemer, out on November 4 through Square Peg Round Hole Recordings. It is part two of a three-part story, a short film that follows on from where last video Honest left off. As with the last video, the narrative in The Redeemer is told backwards.
The band, comprised of Dave Wright (vocals / guitar), Dane Prewett (bass / electronics), Joe Watts (guitar), Tom Harrison (piano) and Jay Wright (drums), shot and directed the video themselves.
The band have received much acclaim for their new single: Edith Bowman from BBC 6 Music said: “Beautiful and haunting vocals: love it.”, whilst The Clash magazine labelled it “heart-on-sleeve songwriting of the finest kind.”
Falling of Maps‘ sound can be characterised by a mix of the epic, symphonic sounds of Elbow, whilst also incorporating the experimentalism of Alt-J.
The single is taken from forthcoming album A Seaside Town in Winter, which will be released in January 2014. Visit the band’s official site for more information.
