It’s been a while since we last heard from Best Coast as they have been busy in the studio recording the follow up to their last album ‘Crazy For You’ (2010). However, Beth Cosentino has recently revealed in an interview with Pitchfork that one of the tracks, which is to be featured upon the new album is “Emo”. She stated that the song ‘When I cry’ “…has that thing I love – happy melody, sad lyrics. Seriously, this record is emo, get ready for it.”
Cosentino also revealed more about the new album by saying “We didn’t want to make a ‘lo-fi’ record, we wanted to make something that was produced, and sounded different than our first record without completely changing who we are”. She continued to divulge further by adding “There are more slower songs on this record, which is exciting for me because I am much better at singing ballads. Most of the songs on this record are more about self-discovery and figuring out who I am… There are definitely still songs about love, but it’s done in a different way now.”
The new album is set to be released this summer and HTF are very excited to see what Best Coast have in store for us next, so watch this space.
