Interview: Voodoo Black (HTF Exclusive)

HTF electronic speak to NEW Record Label in Bass music, UK’s new finest – Voodoo Black! Find out all right here..

‘Voodoo Black’ is a brand spanking new and exciting Record Label in all that is high quality bass music.

Formed in the UK, and fresh to summer 2012, Voodoo Black dropped their first artist and track release off the label back in May this year. Already building up a big audience, interest and mass remixes in the bass industry, HTF electronic just had to get the low down on all that is Voodoo Black and what is to come from this brand new label!

HTF: So straight off! How did Voodoo Black come about?
V/B: Voodoo Black came around through a love of dirty fiendish bass music, a target to introduce & innovative new artists & styles, to allow people to hear fantastic music & help shape the evolution of various bass genres.

HTF: ..Ooh! The artwork is pretty unique too, what was the inspiration for this?
V/B: The artwork is geared towards our twisted minds within the Voodoo Black camp. A cute & highly adourable character yet one which is a rather sinister & obscure! We call our character the ‘Voodude’, who will have a different look on each release!

HTF: We look forward to seeing the many different looks to our Voodude! Maybe HTF Fashion can do an interview with Voodude in the future. So what can we expect from this label?
V/B: Expect the unexpected! Top releases, from some high end producers & unknown assassins, each & every month!

HTF: Next release and Voodude we can look forward to?
V/B: The next release is also from our main producer Bison, hitting us with two incredibly tough futuristic tracks, Warning b/w Attack Force are some seriously big crunching tracks, definitely ones the blow the roof off any rave!

HTF: Sick! We can’t wait to hear this!  What other genres and artist’s can we expect to come off the label?
V/B: The three main genres will be dubstep, drum & bass (drumstep), & glitch-hop, although we will release anything we dig as long as it is fresh & has some serious bass! Our resident artist as spoken about is Bison, alongside Shadow-Conspiracy, Intraspekt, Endboss & CTK, but expect some new arrivals soon!

HTF: Any exciting remixes taking place right now on current tracks, future releases?
V/B: Yeah there is, 6Blocc is currently finishing up a humongous remix, one side of this release in fact, Violence. Its gonna be devastating & will prob be out on Vudu006 or something! & we have a couple of other really big artists doing some remix work for us & collaboration material, but we cant say too much about that at the moment, just keep your eyes peeled!

HTF: Ok, so that is all very exciting! Big things already happening! Section 8 Recordings are already a US labelled brother to Voodoo Black, how did that relation come about?
V/B: The Voodoo Black & Section 8 relationship came about with the aspiring friendship of the label owners, the acquisition of Section 8’s artist Bison, & a realisation of promotional potential through the two labels linking up. Both labels have similar ideologies to one another, & both look to break the boundaries of contemporary bass music!

HTF: So, the question we all want to know, what is Voodoo Black’s main music aim?
V/B: Voodoo Black’s main aim is to relentlessly release fresh futuristic bass music to assault people ears with our infectious sounds & styles!

HTF: Assault away!!
