What started as an venture between Andre “Dr. Dre” Young and Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records chairman Jimmy Iovine back in 2008, is now a billion dollar company. Which started primarily as headphones and speakers and marketed under the Beats by Dr. Dre branding, Beats Electronics focuses on the Bass of music.
But now the big news is Apple is reportedly set to acquire the electronics brand for $3.2 billion (£1.9 billion) in what is set to be its biggest ever acquisition. The deal is still in the negotiations process, but per the Business Insider, it may be confirmed next week.
In addition Beats Electronics launched a streaming service earlier this year called Beats Music in which many are expecting Apple to utilize. The electronic brand clearly has gained popularity since the launch of the product and gained an additional $500 investment from the Carlyle Group last year. With the acquisition pending, should we expect to see an rise in price for Beats products?
