Derek, our favourite cardigan-wearing care-home worker, may be attending this year’s 2015 Golden Globes! Ricky Gervais has hinted that he may dress as Derek, the title-character of recent hit television show, to attend the awards ceremony.
Gervais has been nominated for Best Actor in this year’s awards for his much-loved role of Derek in the comedy mockumentary-style series, which ran for two series’ since 2012. Gervais’ nomination follows previous success with Extras and The Office.
Gervais wrote on the official Golden Globes website:
“I’ve won three Golden Globes so far but this nomination for ‘Derek’ is probably the one I’m most proud of. I don’t know why. I think it’s that deep down I think that ‘Derek’ is nominated as opposed to me. Maybe I’ll attend as him. Haha. Just hugging everyone on the red carpet. It’s a plan!”
