MGM and Paramount have almost everything in place for their latest adaptation of Ben-Hur, apart from a lead actor. Well today a name has been thrown into the ring, that of Tom Hiddleston.
Timur Bekmambetov is set to direct and John Ridley has been ironing out the creases in his latest script and with a release date of 2016, the studio are now keen to get Hiddleston tied down to the role sot that filming can begin.
The new film will focus on the younger days of Judah Ben-Hur and Messala, best friends growing up in Jerusalem before the Roman Empire took over. The duo were previously portrayed infamously by Charlten Heston and Stephen Boyd in the 1959 original. Here’s hoping there’s something rivalling the seminal chariot race this time round as well.
