Having opted out of the spotlight for much of 2013, Tom Hardy will be returning to the big screen in 2014 with new Soviet thriller Child 44. The film, which at this point does not have a confirmed release date, will be set in the Stalin era in which Hardy plays a Soviet military police officer. Although a firm believer in the law, he finds himself falling foul of Stalin’s regime as he attempts to investigate a recent string of murders. As his life is turned upside down by the very regime he used to support, only his wife – played by Noomi Rapace – is there by his side. Child 44 will also star Gary Oldman, with Daniel Espinosa at the helm and Ridley Scott producing.
