With the 2012 Democratic National Convention just finishing airing over in America, it is no surprise that politics are on the brain! Steven Spielberg’s biopic featuring the life and times of Abraham Lincoln is not the only Lincoln-based feature being released. Tom Hanks has agreed to be a part of a TV docu-thriller exploring Abraham Lincoln’s assassination for the National Geographic channel.
Hanks will be narrating the show that will focus on the controversy surrounding the assassination of America’s 16th president and will look into the mindset of the man in question; John Wilkes Booth. The film is being brought to the screen by Ridley Scott’s company and will feature a mix of CGI, drama and factual retellings. It will also be dedicated to Tony Scott as it was the last project he worked on.
Band Of Brothers producer Erik Jendresen is working with director Adrian Moat on the project with a cast including Billy Campbell, Jesse Johnson and Geraldine Hughes. The film will air early next year so if you are interested in getting two interpretations of one of America’s biggest historical events then be sure to check it out.
