Post Harry Potter, Tom Felton has been keeping busy! Straight after the last Harry Potter film was released, Felton was cast as the evil ape guardian in The Rise of the Planet of the Apes, he has been cast to play the hopeless husband in the film adaptation of Therese Raquin and now Felton’s talents have attracted a very random role indeed.
Director Tony Kayle’s film Detachment is set to be released in the US later this month, however, his next project is a sexual thriller starring Sharon Stone and Tom Felton.
The narrative is practically similar to Dustin Hoffman’s The Graduate, yet Kayle has added in a more sinister interpretation. For those of you, who haven’t seen The Graduate, let me explain the storyline. Dustin Hoffman’s character is a young teenage boy who is going through a sort of premature midlife crisis. He takes a liking to Mrs Robinson, a family friend and they indulge in a secret love affair. However, Hoffman’s character falls in love with Mrs Robinson’s daughter (who is his age) and they start a public love affair, much to the dislike of the mother. To cut a long story short, Mrs Robinson tells all of her love affair with the young boy and Hoffman tries his hardest to win back the love of the daughter.
Now, I hear you saying, how can that storyline get even more twisted? Well Tom Felton’s character is a little more Malfoy-esque, as he stalks his middle-aged lover and knowingly starts a relationship with the daughter to get back at the mother.
He has the sinister, evil facial expressions down to a tee, so this role is perfect for him. Right?
