It hasn’t even been released in the UK yet but Constantin Film has already started the casting process for the sequel to Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, entitled Mortal Instruments: CIty of Ashes. It seems that the film company have a lot of faith in their brand new fantasy franchise, which will star Lily Collins as Shadowhunter Clary Fray.
The narrative follows Clary as she discovers her family’s Shadowhunter past. A shadowhunter can simply be defined as a magical bounty hunter who can see all kinds of fantastical demons us mere mortals cannot. If Weaver does sign on, she will be set to play the merciless leader of the Shadowhunters; and a woman who has an unquenchable thirst to kill the man who murdered her son.
Directed by 2010’s The Karate Kid’s Harald Zwart, City of Ashes is scheduled to start shooting in October this year! Which is pretty incredible considering we have to wait until August 21 to see the first instalment of this fledgling franchise.
Zwart is one organised director!
