The popular screen writer, Scott Z. Burns, has announced that he may be scheduled to direct The Professor, which will be an adaptation of the New York Times article written by Maxine Swan, entitled The Professor, The Bikini Model and The Suitcase Full Of Trouble.
Burns hasn’t directed a feature length film since he appeared behind the camera for 2006’s Pu-239 starring Paddy Considine, but is recognised for his hugely successful written works, as he is responsible for writing critically acclaimed films such as The Bourne Ultimatum, Side Effects, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, The Informant and Contagion.
The story follows the character of Paul Frampton, a theoretical particle physicist at The University of North Carolina who ends up in possession of a mystery briefcase given to him by a mysterious man, whilst simultaneously entering into a mysterious online relationship with who he believes to be a Czech model.
Burns is not yet confirmed to direct, however he is in deep negotiations with the films production company, Film Rites, with Garrett Basch and Steve Zaillian to produce.
