There must have been more than a few confused expressions on the faces of the people of North Dakota as they tuned in to watch their local news update on KX News on Saturday. Instead of their usual and familiar news anchor, they were instead greeted by none other than Anchorman movie character Rob Burgundy (Will Ferrell). The stunt was of course, part of a PR campaign for the Anchorman sequel, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. However, rather than packing a short appearance full of gags and tomfoolery, Ferrel delivered a surreal 30 minutes of real life news in the character of Burgundy, which naturally lead to some humorous moments as well as some hilariously awkward ones.
In addition to his appearance on KX News, the character of Rob Burgundy has also hosted the EMA’S and released his fictional autobiography. Furthermore, Ferrel has also appeared as Burgandy in a series of Dodge Durango commercials as part of the promotional campaign for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues which is due for release in the UK December 20th. You can see highlights of Rob Burgundy’s appearance on KX News in the video clip below:
