Reznor and Ross raised a few eyebrows when they were announced to be composing the soundtrack to Fincher’s The Social Network in 2010. It proved to be a fruitful and productive partnership though with the duo producing one of the finest soundtracks of the year and winning an Oscar for Best Score at the same time.
They followed it up by scoring the next Fincher film, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and were nominated for various awards including a Golden Globe for that as well. It featured an incredible cover of Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song with Karen O from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs on vocals.
Since then, there have been various projects that Reznor has been linked to, including Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but they seem determined to stick with Fincher.
The film itself stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike as a happily married couple, but when Pike disappears, Affleck is framed for her murder. It is adapted by Gillian Flynn from her own book of the same name and the film is set for release in the UK for October 3.
