Since it was announced that William Monahan would undertake his second attempt at writing and directing with his new thriller Mojave, details of the film have been kept closely guarded. The only details revealed so far were that Garrett Hedlund and Oscar Isaac were to star in the Los-Angeles based film. Now a first look picture as well as revealed plot details finally shed some light on what to expect when the film reaches its release date which is still, at this point, unconfirmed.
The revealed plot details tell of a violent and disturbed artist (Hedlund) who escapes to the desert in search of solitude. However, his efforts are thwarted when he encounters his doppelgänger in the form of homicidal drifter (Isaac) who manages to entice the artist into a world of criminality. Such a plot suggests director William Monahan has found himself in not too unfamiliar territory considering his previous work. However, having received average reviews for London Boulevard, his debut film as a director, Monahan will no doubt be keen to impress this time round and perhaps infuse the Oscar winning skills found in his script writing into the hotly anticipated Mojave.
