The first trailer for Nicolas Cage‘s new film, Joe, has premiered online.
Joe is directed by David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, Your Highness), and based on Larry Brown’s 1991 novel of the same name.
The drama, which also stars Gary Poulter and Sue Rock, see’s Cage play a violent ex-con who strikes up and unlikely friendship with an abused teenager, played by The Tree Of Life’s Tye Sheridan.
The film premiered at the 2013 Venice Film Festival and was also played at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. Critics have praised Cage’s performance as one of his finest yet.
Joe will be released in the UK on July 25, 2014.
