Gyllenhaal and director Denis Villeneuve have once again come together to create another unique piece of film. Though this picture features even more psychological thriller elements than Prisoners and adds in topics focused upon identity and doppelgänger theories.

Gyllenhaal‘s character is Adam Bell: a strung-out professor who discovers that there exists an identical man named Anthony St. Claire (also Gyllenhaal) and he bares a sinister threat. Mélanie Laurent, Isabella Rossellini and Sarah Gadon also star in the film.

Roughly based on a book by José Saramago, the Portuguese author behind Blindness, a thriller with a metaphysical bent. Though the title has been changed from the book to avoid confusion, because the book is called The Double which is already an existing film.

Enemy is in US cinemas from March 14 and will be in the UK in the first half of 2014.
