New Jungle Book Adaptation Planned!

India-based DQ Entertainment has decided to adapt Disney’s 1967 The Jungle Book for the contemporary era. Will it work? Find out more information here!

Disney’s 1967 version of Rudyard Kipling’s tale The Jungle Book is a classic children’s film. Still being watched today by the new generation, it seems like an abomination for another company that is NOT Disney to take over the rights for the classic story and remake it. Right? India- based gaming and cartoon company DQ Entertainment have decided to shake things up a bit and remake the story with more authenticity for the new generation!

Luckily, the company have decided to get a little help in the form of Tigger Movie writer and director Jun Falkenstein, who has been asked to direct this film as well. Producer Eric S Rollman told The WrapThe net result will be a distinctive and captivating presentation for families [all over] the world to enjoy, and one more illustration of the unique acumen of DQ Entertainment, an unstoppable creative force in our industry”. It seems like the producer was trying to big up the company rather than the project! Slightly worrying!

The film is set to be released in 2014 but are we willing to let go of traditional Disney history and let new, young production companies have a chance?
