Disney’s latest cinematic fairy-tale offering ‘Maleficent’, a re-telling of the cartoon classic Sleeping Beauty, has been met with outstanding box office success following its debut, despite slightly missing the mark with critics, hurtling to the top spot with $70 million.
Add to that the overseas revenue garnered by the film so far it is currently sitting pretty at around $170 million during its opening weekend, knocking X-Men: Days Of Future Past off its perch. However, the superhero offering managed to earn a staggering $500 million in total so far worldwide before bending its knee to Angelina Jolie’s dark majesty.
