Jake Gyllenhaal To Join Into The Woods?

A fairytale musical starring Johnny Depp, Meryl Streep and potentially Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine? Well, alright then! Check out the latest on Into The Woods here!

When we heard the basic premise for Into The Woods, we let out a little squeal of glee! A fairytale musical full to the brim with A-listers! What more could we want? Well, how about the likes of Jake Gyllenhaal and Chris Pine joining a cast with Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep! Director Rob Marshall and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have not confirmed Gyllenhaal and Pine’s involvement but both stars have sung for the duo.

Into The Woods is an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Broadway musical. The narrative follows a childless baker, played by our very own James Corden as he journeys into the woods to find an evil witch, played by Streep, who cursed his wife. Whilst searching for the witch, the baker encounters the likes of Rapunzel, Cinderella, Jack from Jack and the Giant Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood and other classic fairytale characters. Johnny Depp has been confirmed to play a charismatic version of the Big Bad Wolf!

If both stars accept the role, Pine and Gyllenhaal will be playing a couple of stuck up princes!

Marshall wants to start shooting the project in June, which gives Depp time to work on Wally Pfister’s Transcendence and drama Black Mass.

We are currently seeing Chris Pine playing Captain Kirk in Star Trek: Into the Darkness and will be seeing him in Jack Ryan, set to arrive on December 26th. Jake Gyllenhaal will next star in Prisoners, set for release on October 4th and An Enemy.

Fairytales and musicals are really coming into their own recently. We are excited for this unique development!
