The trailer for John Green’s best-selling book turned film, The Fault In Our Stars, has officially become YouTube’s most liked trailer, leaving the likes of One Direction behind.
The trailer has climbed its way up to a staggering 273,000 likes and 17 million views since its online release in January.
The film follows the lives of two teenage cancer patients who fall in love after meeting at a cancer support group. Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley star as Augustus and Hazel, in two roles certainly worlds apart from their last roles together, as brother and sister in Divergent.
The two and a half minute clip begins with the illusion that everything is well in Hazel’s life, until she says: “There’s nothing in life that can’t be fixed with a Peter Gabriel song. I like that version as much as the next girl does. It’s just not the truth.”
Green’s novel has been named TIME magazine’s fiction book of the year and has become a New York Times number one bestseller since its publication in 2012.
Directed by Josh Boone and starring Nat Wolff, Sam Trammell and Laura Dern, The Fault In Our Stars is set to hit UK cinemas on June 19, 2014.
