It was only last week that Warner Bros announced they were continuing the Harry Potter universe with a brand new spinoff entitled Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, based on the textbook used at Hogwarts. Now, we have word that Alfonso Cuarón has attached himself to the project.
The Gravity director has been associated with Harry Potter before, when he directed the third film of the franchise Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Although the lowest-grossing film in the Potter franchise, it is the most experimental with art direction and deserves a lot more credit.
Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them will be set 70 years before Harry and will follow Newt Scamander as he travels the world documenting various fantastical beasts he encounters.
This film is the first film of a trilogy and is set to be released in 2016.
