After years of uncertainty, it finally seems like the Splinter Cell adaptation finally has a director, with Doug Liman reported to be all but set to direct the film to the Ubisoft stealth-action video game series.
Ubisoft have previously had feature films for the likes of Prince of Persia and Far Cry and now have a full-fledged film studio with confirmed projects for Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs and Ghost Recon, among others.
Tom Hardy has already been confirmed to play Sam Fisher, the main protagonist of the video game series, whose latest outing came in the form of Splinter Cell: Blacklist in 2013. Eric Singer is currently writing the screenplay. With all the plans now seemingly in motion, perhaps the studio will meet its 2015 release date target.
