John Hillcoat is now in talks with Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Afflek and Michael B. Jordan to take on starring roles in his latest film Triple Nine. With Cate Blanchett and Chritoph Waltz also on board, it seems Hillcoat has managed to recruit an impressive all-star cast. This could no doubt prove handy to raise the profile of Triple Nine particularly as several of the cast have recently been receiving attention from the award arena. Attention has most noteably been fixed on Ejiofor for his fantastic performance in 12 Years A Slave.
Triple Nine’s plot will follow the story of a group of theieves who hatch a plan to kill a young police office in a bid to distract the authorities from a ambitious heist that the groups associates are trying to pull off on the other side of town. If Hillcoat’s negotiations are successful, Affleck will play the young police office, Ejiofor will play the thief that masterminds that heist while Jordan will play a street wise fellow cop collaborating with Ejifor’s character. Having suffered several set backs involving previous changes in cast and leading roles, Triple nine is set to start filming next year.
