Channing Tatum is a busy man. If he’s not flexing his acting muscles, then he is tightening up his cerebral ones and he’s at it again this time with the sequel to the 2011 smash, Magic Mike 2 which he is going to be penning and starring in.
The first film was based on his early life as a stripper and was a surprise hit, especially with the ladies and so it makes sense to all involved that follow-up be made.
Tatum has previously confirmed via a picture on Twitter that he is writing the story at the moment with his writing partner, Reid Carolin and he took some time to discuss the direction of the story after the MTV awards ceremony at the weekend. He said: “This one, we want there to be a lot of conflict and a lot of struggle, but we also want there to be a shit ton of fun, of ridiculous stuff you’ll never see in a movie again.”
He also mentioned that the concept this time will be a road-trip movie, differing from the first film’s plot, but he has also hinted that the whole cast would be returning as well which although nothing is concrete yet.
The film currently has a US release date of July 3, 2015 and one of the first films producers, Greg Jacobs, will be on directing duties this time, taking over from Steven Soderbergh.
