Brenton Thwaites To Play Young Royal In Maleficent!

The young Australian actor has been cast as the handsome prince that will help rescue the sleeping damsel in the up and coming fantasy feature; Maleficent! Click here to check out more info!

2012 is definitely the year for handsome, tanned Australian men to make their mark on Hollywood! What with Thor’s Chris Hemsworth and his equally attractive brother Liam who starred alongside Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games,  Brenton Thwaites has joined in on all the movie action to star in Disney’s new fairytale with a twist; Maleficent!

The Home and Away star will be playing the young royal who has the hots for Princess Aurora, played by Elle Fanning. However, the chemistry between the two young actors will only be one strand of the story. Director Robert Stromberg has decided to retell the traditional fairytale in the eyes of the evil fairy queen, Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) and focus on the fact that she is not evil but just a mixed up character that had an unhappy childhood! Sounds pretty deep!

Along with Thwaites, Fanning and Jolie, Lesley Manville, Imelda Staunton and Juno Temple have been cast to play the busybody fairies who are asked to keep Princess Aurora safe from harm. Kenneth Cranham will play the human king that wishes to conquer the fairy land and Miranda Richardson has been asked to play fairy queen Ulla who is effectively the reason behind Maleficent’s evil tendencies.

Shooting will start next month but the film will not be released in the UK until 2014! Possibly an epic production is underway for us to feast our eyes upon!
