It has been confirmed by the writer of the new Beetlejuice film that Michael Keaton will be reprising the title-role as the eccentric “bio-exorcist”. The Golden Globe winner, currently starring in the very successful movie Birdman, was “more than interested” in partaking in the sequel as long as Tim Burton was on board, which has also been confirmed.
This follow-up sequel of the 1989 classic has been in planning stages for the past 3 years, and despite the very slow progress, Burton said recently that the movie is “closer than ever” to becoming a reality.
Writer Seth Grahame-Smith has also revealed that it will definitely be a sequel rather than a reboot, and that the character of Beetlejuice will be used sparingly. Other cast members have yet to be confirmed, so watch this space!
