Cali: California, the sunny, bright, beach-infested land where everyone is happy and everyone is healthy. Well, take that stereotypical concept and just rip it up because that is basically what Nick Cassavetes has done with his brand new dark feature; Cali. Starring Kristen Stewart as Mya, I Am Number Four star Alex Pettyfer will be playing her on-screen lover Chris.
The narrative follows the two lovers who decide to shoot and sell a fake snuff film for a ton of money so they can run away and start a new life together. However, problems arise years later when Mya’s younger sister gets into a lot of trouble, forcing both Chris and Mya to return from the “dead”.
The script written by 30 Minutes Or Less writer Michael Diliberti, is said to be a dark comedy that is a wee bit gritty and a real shock to the system! Fingers crossed both Diliberti and Cassavetes practice what they preach!
The cameras will start rolling later this summer but you can catch Pettyfer in Lee Daniel’s The Butler and Pascal Caumeil’s Diamond Dogs. Kristen Stewart will be seen next in On The Road which is out October 12th, followed by the finale of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 on November 16th.
