Terry Richardson has been the center of rumours recently, after model, Emma Appleton posted a screenshot of her phone after receiving an explicit message from the fashion photographer via Facebook on Sunday. However, the account has now been confirmed as a fake.
The message Appleton received read, “If i can fuck you i will book you in ny for a shoot for Vogue”. As a serious case of sexual misconduct, Richardson hired online forensic expert Theo Yedinsky, to defend himself against these shocking accusations. Yedinsky discovered that the account had been set up just two weeks prior to the sent message, and also that it was linked to an equally fake Gmail account.
As the account was reported for violating the site’s terms of service, Facebook removed the account but refused to comment otherwise.
Although this isn’t the first time Richardson has been accused of sexual misconduct, it does seem stupid that the photographer would sexually proposition a model through a site as well-documented as Facebook. Richardson has also not worked for Vogue since 2010, so seems unlikely he would offer a shoot with the high-fashion magazine.
Appleton has since removed the original screenshot, and added via Instagram that she is not 100% sure that it was Richardson messaging her.
