Designer Liz Black has been announced as River Island‘s new Design Forum collaborator. Black’s inspiration for her designs for the collection came from Russia’s last imperial family, featuring Russian muffs and Fabergé-egg-inspired cut-out detailing alongside her signature moody prints. It seems like Black is following the path of Brit-based design talent including Eudon Choi, Katie Eary and Joseph Turvey.

Black said, “The first time I visited London I went shopping in River Island, where I ended up buying much more than I intended! I never imagined that 14 years later I would be asked to design a capsule collection especially for them. Working with the River Island team has been a fantastic experience and professionally very rewarding.”

Black who is a Central Saint Martins graduate, was chosen by Roland Mouret as a semi-finalist for 2011’s Fashion Fringe Awards and she has even dressed Lady Gaga! Which made her known worldwide for her gravity-defying “circle” dress worn by the star in 2011.

Black’s Design Forum collection consisting of nine pieces including comprising dresses, outerwear, separates and accessories – will launch during London Fashion Week’s Fashion Film event, and will be available in stores and online at River Island in September 2014 with prices varying from £30 to £100.
