Nasty Gal has been on the rise, upping its game and becoming a big player in the retail market. The latest move in their executive overhaul has seen the prior Chief Product Office of Lululemon, a popular American activewear brand, as the company’s new ambassador. This may come as a surprise to Nasty Gal fans, who have watched the brand develop since it’s early days, when creator, Sophia Amoruso started the company by selling clothes on ebay.

The decision to hire Sheree Waterson, ex-Chief Product Officer of Lululemon, is a bit of a head-scratcher since her departure from the company amidst allegations see-through leggings.

The legging-opacity fiasco spurred much criticism, especially from customers who had bought the leggings, which cost upwards of $80. Sales of the brand dropped by 12% amidst the allegations when Waterson publicly stepped down from the position she had held for 5 years.

Despite this, Amoruso believes that she has made the right decision, in a bold move that could make or break the company. She has been quoted saying that Waterson build an incredible company from what she had to work with in her 5 years with the company. What’s next for Nasty Gal? We will have to wait and see.
