Marissa Webb has been named as the new creative director and executive vice president of Banana Republic, the brand’s parent company Gap Inc. announced the news this week.
Webb is a brilliant choice for Banana Republic after doing great things as head of womenswear at J Crew and running her own eponymous label since 2011. This line is set to continue as Gap Inc. have bought a minority stake in the company as part of the deal, Banana Republic Global President Jack Calhoun will also serve as a strategic partner.
Webb is not due to start her role at Banana Republic until April 28th and her first designs for the brand will be released in time for Summer 2015.
