Back in 2000, little was known about Jennifer Lopez, that is till she rocked the red carpet at the 42nd Annual Grammy Awards wearing a dress that sky-rocketed her to the top of the fashion industry’s hottest and most stylish list. J.Lo should definitely be giving thanks and counting her blessings with thanks to that memorable green, tropica-print Versace dress, which with its plunging neckline was hard not to forget.
Well now Jenny has brought the dress back for round two, well kind of… the outfit has been reworked from dress to jumpsuit for the songstresses latest music video ‘I luv yah papi’.
The latest music video is a true reflection of Lopez’s personal style, which includes some signiture pieces such as oversized gold hoop earrings, double denim and of course sporty tracksuits. The music video is a complete ‘throwback thursday’, specifically throwback all the way to the Noughties; with the whole Versace ensemble.
The main characteristic of the outfit was the neckline which ended at the navel, and luckily the figure hugging jumpsuit still incorporates it, with which was paired with a whole lot of bling and jewels hanging around her neck and to tie the look together, a more sophisticated and voluminous half-up half-down hairstyle compliments the final look.
Jennifer has revealed that they didn’t really plan paying homage to her old outfits. Yes, really. “It wasn’t like, ‘go get the outfit made!'”, according to her the stylist had brought it in on the rack and when she saw it she asked “What’s the jungle print doing there?”, when her stylist told her that it was called the Versace jungle print, her immediate reply was “What is that?”.
In the end the stylist was able to convince her that its all the rage in stores now, and despite it being a rap video type of thing going, she would be able to definitely work it.
Nothing like welcoming the new season with a little tropical throwback… also did we mention another favourite of the video being the lovely shirtless (well more like semi-nude) men on yachts. This music video is definitely one for the ladies!
