Jack Wills, the go-to brand for student attire with a quintessential British style, might just be on the verge of embracing a new form to their trademark look of country meets classic. Appointing a new creative director in Richard Nicoll, Jack Wills celebrate by stating, “his collections have global appeal, but he is a British designer at heart and will lead the creative direction of our brand into its next important phase,” said Wendy Becker, Jack Wills CEO. “His aesthetic and talent in designing for both men and women will be a great match for our future vision for Jack Wills and reinforces our commitment to having quality and design at our heart.”
Keen to continue the success of his own line, which saw his Richard Nicoll collections on London Fashion Week, the designer has agreed only a part time role within the company. Renowned for his androgynous tailoring and rework of modernist classics, his influence is sure to enthuse a refreshing twist to the preppy meets casual look of Jack Wills.
“I’m excited to be working with Jack Wills, this is an opportunity to take a successful British design aesthetic and drive forward the product and vision,” said Nicoll. “Wendy has exciting plans to evolve the Jack Wills brand and I am looking forward to being a part of that.” Having styled Julianne Moore, Diane Kruger and Kiera Knightley, to name a few, Nicoll’s got his sights set on new horizons, and possibly a radical new look for students.
