It’s always great hearing when fashion houses decide to cultivate and help launch the careers of up and coming designers. For the third year running now, H&M has been out scoping the field for the best fashion graduates across the world to join their team, helping the winner launch their career in the cut-throat fashion industry.
After reviewing 30 design schools from 12 countries, the 8 finalists were chosen from 26 semi-finalists. The criteria for each graduates selection was based on their own unique creativity, vision and technical skill.
During December, each of the finalists had received €5000 to develop their collections and present them in London to a prestigious international jury consisting of Vogue UK‘s executive fashion editor Serena Hood, senior fashion editor of Vogue Italy Sara Maino, actress Michelle Dockery, designer Erdem, H&M‘s creative head of design Ann-Sofia Johansson, style expert Michelle Harper and H&M‘s creative advisor Margareta van den Bosch.
The winner, who will be announced on January 28, will be receiving €50000 and the chance to show their winning collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Stockholm. In addition to this, certain pieces from their collection will be developed and sold at selected H&M stores for the autumn season.
