With leading ladies Beyonce, Salma Hayek and Frida Giannini behind the Chime for Change campaign, it’s no surprise their latest move is fashion related, but when fashion giant, and also founders of the project, Gucci, get in on the action – there’s no stopping them.
Donating three of their most famous handbags to boost the cause, they will be auctioned online by Christie’s and all proceeds will be donated to support the charity.
Clare Borthwick of Christie’s vintage couture and accessories department says of the project, “We are honored to support Chime For Change, which aims to help improve quality of life for women around the world, by collaborating with Gucci on the sale of these three unique handbags.”
Among the handbags to be auctioned are the New Bamboo Bag, which took over two days and 130 separate bamboo pieces to create the handle; The New Jackie Bag, a homage to the Gucci style worn by Jackie Onassis; and the Soft Stirrup Bag, inspired by the popular 1975 version.

The sale runs between September 23rd to September 30th and bidding starts at $6,390 for the New Bamboo and New Jackie Bags, while the Soft Stirrup Bag begins at a respectable $1,600. Hammer at the ready!
